Wildflower Celebration

Original oil painting by Navy Sloth

Sometimes an ordinary summer morning gives you something completely unexpected.

Wildflower Celebration was inspired by one of those moments. I was sitting in my conservatory-turned-studio on a warm summer morning, eating breakfast with the doors open and a cool breeze drifting through.

I remember looking up at the sky and closing my eyes for a moment.

And suddenly I had this wonderful burst of colour behind my eyelids — a swirling kaleidoscope of dots, movement and bright, hazy colour, almost as though the whole sky had turned into a wildflower meadow.

That little moment became Wildflower Celebration.

The painting is full of movement and colour, with wild grasses, playful flowers and layers of vibrant dots dancing across the canvas. It feels energetic and spontaneous, but there’s something wonderfully carefree about it too — like a meadow on a warm summer’s day when everything is buzzing with life.

I love that a painting can sometimes begin with something so small. A breeze through an open door. A quiet breakfast. Closing your eyes for a few seconds.

And then suddenly, there’s a whole world of colour waiting to be painted.

Wildflower Celebration is my little celebration of those unexpected moments of happiness — the ones that arrive when you’re not looking for them.
