As a small child, our caravan sat in a field surrounded by towering wild daisies, overgrown hedgerows, and curious botanicals growing in every direction. My brother and I spent our days exploring, dodging brambles, and searching for anything that might gently annoy our parents or grandparents. Our favourite discoveries were the strange string-like plants covered in tiny green burrs that would cling to clothing. Extra points were awarded if you could secretly attach one to someone’s back and convince them they had grown a tail! They must have loved taking us on holiday.

Despite the mischievous adventures behind the memory, this painting is filled with feelings of happiness, freedom, and wonder. The loose, expressive brushwork and vibrant splashes of colour capture the joy of a summer meadow alive with movement and possibility.
