Wildflower Dreams

Original oil painting by Navy Sloth

What if you could lose yourself in a wildflower meadow and forget about everything else for a little while?

Wildflower Dreams is my dreamy, slightly romantic take on that feeling — a soft explosion of flowers, colour and texture that feels more like a memory or a daydream than a particular place.

I wanted this painting to capture the feeling of being surrounded by wildflowers, rather than trying to paint every flower exactly as it appears. The blooms are loose and expressive, drifting in and out of one another as though you’re seeing them through half-closed eyes on a warm summer’s day.

There’s something wonderfully freeing about getting lost amongst flowers. The colours blur together, the shapes become less important and you stop noticing everything except the feeling of being there.

Wildflower Dreams has a softer, more intuitive quality than some of my other wildflower paintings. It’s vibrant and expressive, but there’s a gentleness to it too — a little world to disappear into whenever you need a moment away from the everyday.

A wildflower meadow, a little daydream and a whole lot of colour.
