Navy Sloth Paintings – Chaotic Silence
Chaotic silence is an abstract oil drip painting that was created during the 2020 COVID lockdown. Chaotic in appearance with its multidirectional lines partially smothered in droplets of oil paint, feeling trapped before continuing their journey.
Initially Chaotic silence began as a pretty, tutti-fruity feel-good painting that soon materialised into a spiralling rabbit hole of bold colour. As the lonely worrying weeks spent in lockdown went by more bold dark lines of paint were added. Lighter lines or droplets then appeared with every sunny day, zoom calls with loved ones and glimmers of hope on the news.
Even though the painting was created during these crazy times, its process helped me release my feelings onto canvas and helped me relax. The end product is a powerful, striking piece, one that brings hope and determination.
