Navy Sloth Paintings – In the night garden
In the night garden is an abstract oil floral drip painting. Created using grungy shades of greens and dark tones and layered with pretty vibrant floral droplets. It’s an enchanting piece and has so many layers to explore. Viewing it has a calming effect, possibly due to its toned down qualities, as if designed with tranquility in mind.
Why In the night garden?
I wanted to create a dark powerful piece that would let me explore an alternative palette to my usual paintings. No matter how dark I kept trying to achieve, I kept getting drawn to the pretty vibrant colourful tubes of oil paint. I’d add a few layers of pretties then try my best to add more murky tones but somehow more pretties would make their way on the canvas. I think the final piece allowed a healthy balance of both, creating this mysterious painting. It’s how I imagine a magical night garden to look, dark and eerie with flowers dazzling in the moonlight.
