Golden Fields: A Little Greener is a miniature painting from my Golden mini series. There are three paintings available, similar in appearence but with small changes. You can purchase as a single piece to brightening up a small space or buy all three which would look amazing together displayed as a set. Please note the cost for one painting is £100.

This little landscape began with memories of childhood car journeys, gazing out of the car window as fluffy white clouds drifted overhead and the countryside changed constantly before my eyes. Fields, hills, colour and botanicals seemed to pass by in a beautiful blur.

But our landscapes have evolved over the years, now sharing their space with wind turbines that help produce greener energy. They certainly have a marmite effect, you either love them or hate them.

After travelling through the mountains recently, I found myself looking at the wind turbines differently. Tall, slightly eerie and wonderfully imposing, they stood proudly amongst the landscape. I know they divide opinion, but I found them rather beautiful — and somehow they felt completely at home in this little world I had created.

So I added some tiny, colourful wind turbines.

I love the contrast between the softness of the golden fields, the rolling green hills and these unexpected modern “giants” standing against the sky. For me, they represent the way our landscapes are constantly changing — and how something new can become part of the beauty of a place.
