Fields Like Summer
Fields Like Summer โ original landscape painting by Navy Sloth.
Fields Like Summer was inspired by childhood memories of car journeys to Saundersfoot in Pembrokeshire for family holidays.
I can remember gazing out of the window, watching fluffy white clouds create the most beautiful shapes while the landscape changed constantly before my eyes. Fields, hills, hedgerows and botanicals seemed to rush past in a beautiful blur of colour โ almost like a carousel of little countryside scenes.
There was something magical about those journeys. Being tucked into the car, watching the world go by, knowing that somewhere ahead was the sea, sunshine and a holiday waiting to begin.
I wanted to capture that feeling of looking through the car window and seeing the countryside not as one fixed view, but as a constantly changing collection of colours, shapes and little details. The textures in the painting echo the patterns left by raindrops and countryside roads on the glass, adding to that dreamy, blurred view.
For me, Fields Like Summer is a little piece of childhood nostalgia โ the anticipation of a family holiday, the countryside rushing past the window and that lovely feeling of being on your way somewhere special.
I hope it brings back a little of that feeling for you too.
